AP-4441 Protec Etch Primer - 2 Pack

AP-4441 PROTEC ETCH PRIMER is a 2 pack chromate free etch primer designed for use under Quickline, Paraglaze and Carmaster refinish 2 pack primers. It will provide maximum adhesion and corrosion resistance when working on large areas of bare steel, galvanised steel, aluminium and fibreglass.
SUBSTRATES & PREPARATION
Bare Steel after degreasing with Wax & Grease Remover, sandiing with P120 to P150 grit dry abrasive & conditioning with 971 Metal Conditioner & Degreaser.
Aluminium after cleaning and degreasing with Wax & Grease Remover. The surface then needs to be abraded with a 50/50 mix of methylated spirits and clean water using a scouring pad. Final degrease again with Wax & Grese Remover.
GRP Fibreglass that has been thoroughly cleaned with 978 Surface Cleaner, sanded with P150 to P240 grit dry abrasive and finally degreased with Wax & Grease Remover.
Zinc coated metals can vary in alloy composition therefore it is recommended that you carry out and adhesion test before completing any major work. As a minimum Zinc substrates should be cleaned and degreased with Wax & Grease Remover. The surface then needs to be abraded with a 50/50 mix of methylated spirits and clean water using a scouring pad. Final degrease again with Wax & Grease Remover.
Do not apply under or over Acrylic Lacquer or Polyester bodyfiller products.
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from any contamination before priming. Please see relevant cleaning product datasheets for more information.
MIXING RATIO BY VOLUME
AP-4441 PROTEC ETCH PRIMER 1 Part
AH-4451 PROTEC ETCH PRIMER HARDENER 1 Part
POTLIFE - 2.5 hours at 20oc
SPRAY VISCOSITY @ 20oc - 13-15 Seconds (DIN4)
SPRAYGUN SETUP
Nozzle 1.3mm - 1.5mm
Spray Pressure - HVLP/RP 2-3 bar
Spray Pressure - Conventional 45-55 PSI / 300-380 KPA
NUMBER OF COATS & FLASH OFF
One Coat Apply one even medium coat
Flash Off Flash off for 20 minutes @ 20oc
DRYING TIMES
Make sure the product has flashed off for 20 minutes before overcoating with a two pack primer.
TOTAL DRY FILM BUILD 15-20 um
OVERCOAT WITH
Any Paraglaze, Quickline or Carmaster 2 pack primer. Wet on wet primers can be used over etch primer but do directly apply basecoats or topcoats to etch primers.
