Automotive clear coat is a transparent protective coating applied over basecoat. It creates a smooth, glossy finish while protecting the colour from UV exposure, weather, chemicals, fading and everyday wear. It also enhances the depth and appearance of solid, metallic and pearl colours.
1K vs 2K Clear Coat
1K clear coat is a single-component product that does not require a hardener. It is convenient for small repairs and touch-ups but offers less durability and chemical resistance.
2K clear coat is mixed with a compatible hardener. It chemically cures to produce a harder, longer-lasting finish with superior gloss, UV protection and resistance to fuel, chemicals and weather.
Choose 1K for convenience and smaller jobs. Choose 2K when professional appearance and maximum durability are required.
Always check product compatibility and follow the Technical and Safety Data Sheets. Many 2K products contain isocyanates and require professional application, suitable ventilation and appropriate respiratory protection.
