Scratch, Chip & Touch-Up

Small damage. The right repair. A cleaner finish.

Stone chips, scratches and scuffs might look minor, but once the paint system has been damaged they can expose the layers underneath to moisture, contamination and corrosion.

Whether you're repairing a small stone chip, a scratch through the colour, a scuffed panel or a localised damaged area, the first step is determining how deep the damage actually goes.

A light mark in the clear coat may only require finishing or polishing, while deeper damage may require sanding, rust treatment, primer, colour and clear coat.

For small repairs, custom-mixed touch-up paint provides a convenient way to protect the damaged area and reduce its appearance without refinishing an entire panel. Larger scratches or groups of chips may be better suited to an aerosol or conventional spray repair.

Colour matching matters

Always start with the vehicle's paint code, but remember that the code isn't always the whole story.

Vehicles can have different colour variants, and age, UV exposure, previous repairs and application technique can affect the final appearance. Metallic and pearl colours are particularly sensitive to application.

For colour-critical work, a spray-out/test card is recommended before painting the vehicle.
